Windows Insiders who recently switched from the Fast Ring to Slow or Release Preview rings have yet to receive the latest cumulative updates. However, those eligible for the new updates are very likely to face some problems, as Microsoft warns Insiders on the Slow/Release Preview ring that they probably won’t be able to install the latest release, KB4015583 (Build 15063.14).

Namely, according to Microsoft’s post in the Insider Hub, users who recently switched from the Fast ring to one of two other rings will probably experience an install failure with error code 0x80073715 while trying to install the above-mentioned update.

As Microsoft is done with releasing the Creators Update builds to Windows 10 Insider Program, the development team is now focused on the “Redstone 3” builds. Of course, the earliest builds are usually quite unstable, which exactly is the reason why a lot of Insiders are switching from the Fast ring to Slow/Release Preview rings.

“Insiders moving from Fast ring to either Slow or Release Preview rings may experience an install failure with error code 0x80073715 when they are offered KB4015583 (Build 15063.14). The error is understood and expected as we released a different version of the KB to Slow and Release Preview rings which fails to install on the version of the KB that went out to the Fast ring. As long as your PC is showing 15063.14 as the OS Build number then you are running the right OS bits. So sit tight! You don’t need to do anything.”
