Intel to fix the Windows 10 2004 Optane memory issue

An Intel spokesperson who spoke with Windows Latest confirmed that the company, in partnership with Microsoft, is developing a solution.

On May 31, 2020, Microsoft acknowledged the problem after a user had tweeted about it.

The company confirmed the likelihood that the Intel Optane may be incompatible with the May 2020 update. It also suggested to the user that installing the latest Intel driver for the hardware might help.

According to Intel, it appears the Optane memory compatibility issue hasn’t affected a lot of users, though.

The company’s spokesperson added that users of Optane SSDs or server products didn’t experience the issue.

As a rule of thumb, you can always uninstall any application that causes compatibility problems with otherwise healthy hardware or hardware drivers. That can be an option as you wait for Intel and Microsoft to roll out a permanent solution.

Alternatively, users that have noticed an Optane M10 or H10 issue after updating to Windows 10 2004 can try to repair the system.

To do that, go to Programs and Features and choose Intel Optane Pinning Explorer Extensions. Next, click Repair.
