Many Windows 10 users reported they couldn’t print after installing the latest system updates.

More specifically, nothing happened when they hit the Print button and an error code appeared on the screen.

Microsoft recently acknowledge this problem and confirmed it would provide the hotfix in an upcoming release.

How to fix Epson Printer bugs after Patch Tuesday

After installing this update, some Epson SIDM and Dot Matrix printers cannot print on x86 and x64-based systems. Microsoft and Epson have determined the cause of the issue and are working on a solution. This problem is not related to the printer driver, so installing current or older print drivers will not resolve the issue.

It is worth mentioning that these annoying print bugs affect all Windows versions, including Windows 7, Windows 8.1 and all Windows 10 releases.

However, judging by user reports, it appears that this issue is prevalent for Windows 10 users.

As you can see, uninstalling and reinstalling your print drivers won’t fix this problem. The best solution is to simply uninstall the problematic patches.

Here is the list of all the November Patch Tuesday updates that may cause issues on Epson printers:

  • Windows 10 1709 KB4048955 Build 16299.64
  • Windows 10 1703 KB4048954 Build 15063.726
  • Windows 10 1607 KB4048953 Build 14393.1884
  • Windows 10 1511  KB4048952 Build 10586.1232
  • Windows 10 1507  KB4048956 Build 10240.17673
  • Windows 8.1 KB4048958
  • Windows 7 KB4048957

Go to Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features > View installed updates. Locate the problematic update and uninstall it.

Then, temporarily pause updates to make sure that your computer won’t install the latest patches automatically. Here are the steps to follow: go to Settings > Updates > Advanced options > and select the ‘Pause updates’ option.

Of course, if you own more than one printer, you can use the second one until you can safely use your Epson printer again.
