When it comes education, Google and its Chromebooks are used to taking a lot of attention, but that’s not stopping Microsoft from pushing forward with its Office 365 for Education initiative. To get more people onboard the Office 365 for Education gravy train, the software giant has decided to add some improvements to the platform.

To do so, the Office 365 team created what is called the Education Roadmap. Microsoft also created an easily accessible website on which educators can visit to learn more of what’s to come.

This is not the first time Microsoft’s done something like this. Recently, Microsoft created the Office 365 for Enterprise roadmap that listed several development milestones, including Yammer, Skype for Business, Exchange and more. What we have here are those same developments being offered for those in the education system, which means great things coming in the near future.

Visitors to the website can locate everything about what the Office team is planning, helping educators plan for the future and stay up-to-date with all the work Microsoft is undergoing.

We’re pleased to share the Office 365 Education Roadmap, which lists updates currently planned for applicable subscribers. Updates for the various stages—from in development to rolling out to customers, to being generally available for applicable customers worldwide—are easily accessible in the Office 365 Roadmap.”

For more information:

  • Go to roadmap.office.com.
  • 2.Open Filters.
  • 3.Under Services, select Education.
  • 4.Click the launch status (i.e., in development) to see product/feature items.
  • 5.Click the item for a description and other information available.

With the addition of the Education Roadmap, we get a chance to look into the larger puzzle that is Microsoft Office 365. Education is a very enormous segment — one the software giant cannot ignore.
